Christmas Rose - Hellebore
Who said all plants have a dormant period during winter? The Hellebore will bloom from November until February, lighting up those dark days with its star-shaped flowers. For this reason, it makes a great festive houseplant to enjoy around the Christmas season - hence its common name, Christmas Rose.

Despite resembling a rose, and taking its name after one, this plant actually belongs to the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae.

Native to the mountain regions of Europe, this evergreen plant prefers cooler temperatures. You can encourage blooming by placing them in the garage, for example, where it is a little chillier. If you notice its leaves turning yellow, this could be due to it being too warm, or being overwatered.
